JFK Mask Policy Update

To Our JFK Families,

  

You may have seen the State of Illinois has recently made the wearing of masks optional in Healthcare Facilities. While we are a Healthcare Facility, due to the specific nature of our Pediatric Dental specialty, we would like to remain a safe space for our child patients and parents who are living with an immunocompromised health status as well as for all who enter and work in our office on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, respiratory illness remains extremely widespread in children and is surging in our local communities. Until pediatric illness rates and hospitalizations decrease, we will continue to require masks be worn by all individuals over the age of 2 years old inside our office (both clinical areas and reception areas). 

We look forward to returning to a more normal lifestyle just as much as you do. However, this ongoing requirement is part of our commitment to keep all of you, your children, as well as our team members and families, as safe and healthy as possible. 

Please continue to fill out prescreening and day-of appointment screening questions with honesty and accuracy during this time. We request that you try to be understanding if a team member calls for clarity or needs to reschedule your child due to illness.

Remember, dentistry requires our clinical team to work within the respiratory fluids that these viruses and bacteria live, replicate, and spread in. We are trying to do our part in preventing the spread of, not only COVID-19, but the other problematic respiratory illnesses now troubling our most vulnerable populations.

Our Naperville pediatric dentist, Dr. Tom Donohue, provided comprehensive, quality dental care for over 25 years. As a children's dentist, Dr. Tom knew how to treat kids. Over the years he has implemented many techniques to create a comfortable atmosphere for children, ranging from the language we use when discussing procedures to the fun-filled waiting area with video games and children's magazines. With his retirement (August 15, 2015), his daughter and and her associate are committed to continuing the Just for Kids mission and philosophy that has made children's dental care so special in this office.

Dr. Eryn Donohue joined her father's practice in summer 2012 after completing her pediatric dental residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She grew up working as her father's (Dr. Tom) dental assistant at Just for Kids and always knew that pediatrics was her passion.  After "taking the reins" from her retired father, she brought on her trusted colleague, Dr. Maribel, to the dental team. 

As pediatric specialists, Dr. Eryn and Dr. Maribel are comfortable and confident in providing quality dental care to all children.  Whether a child has special needs, is medically compromised, or has had prior "bad" experiences at the dentist, Dr. Eryn and Dr. Maribel will treat them with the respect, care, and patience that all children deserve.
